Frequently Asked Questions

What does Eco Edge Designs make?
We handcraft high-end, custom furniture from reclaimed hardwood and fallen trees in Shelton, Washington. Signature pieces include multi-function kitchen islands on wheels, end-grain cutting boards, cutlery organizers and one-of-a-kind commissions. Every piece is made in the USA.
How much does a custom hardwood kitchen island cost?
Our signature multi-function kitchen island on wheels is $2,400 all-inclusive with delivery in the greater Seattle area. Custom commissions are quoted individually based on size, wood species and features.
What wood species do you use?
Reclaimed maple, oak, teak, birch, black walnut, butternut, meranti and sycamore — sourced from discarded furniture and fallen trees that would otherwise rot or go to landfill.
How long does a custom piece take to build and deliver?
Furniture is built to order with a typical lead time of 6–8 weeks. Smaller items like cutting boards ship in 1–2 weeks. Your estimated delivery date is shown in the shopping cart before you order.
Where are you located and where do you deliver?
Our workshop and sawmill are at 3091 SE Kamilche Point Rd, Shelton, WA 98584. Kitchen island pricing includes greater-Seattle delivery; email dion@ecoedgedesigns.com for shipping quotes elsewhere.
Is your furniture really sustainable?
Yes. We repurpose discarded hardwood and mill fallen trees, which reduces landfill waste, conserves standing forests and helps prevent forest fires. Even our offcuts are reused — our cutting boards are made from kitchen-island leftovers.
Can I hire your sawmill?
Yes — when available, our sawmill can be hired at $125 per hour. You bring your own blades and your logs, and we cut. See the Sawmill Hire page for availability and booking.
How do I order or request a custom design?
Add ready-made pieces to the cart and check out — your order is emailed to us and we confirm payment and delivery. For commissions, email dion@ecoedgedesigns.com and we'll co-design the piece with you, from wood species to finishes.
Why is handmade hardwood furniture more expensive than mass-produced?
Each piece takes dozens of hours of skilled joinery and finishing in solid reclaimed hardwood. The result is heirloom furniture that lasts generations — better long-term value than disposable flat-pack alternatives.
Do you make anything besides kitchen islands?
Yes — cutting boards, hardwood paper-towel racks, cutlery drawer organizers and fully custom commissions such as tables, benches and built-ins. If you can imagine it in reclaimed hardwood, we can build it.
